Another Day, Another Deadline

One consequence of my ADD/ADHD is that I never seem to get caught up. So many Web sites to update and work on. So many things to write. New T-Shirt designs to create. And on and on….

On the other hand, one advantage is that I never get bored.

And I am caught up on one thing: I have my share of the updates to Police Officer Exam: Exam Cram book revisions completed. I’m waiting for my co-author to send me the next batch.

I still need to finish migrating content on a number of Web sites. Lately, in between doing the edits to The Everything Pressure Cooker Cookbook that’ll be released in September, I’ve been working on the pages at CookingWithPam.com. I’ve even posted some new content! Two recipes (with pictures!) sent to me by my nephew Andrew Rice:

I also wrote an article for Chronic-Illness.org: It’s All in Your Head — my thoughts on Clare Wilson’s interview of controversial British Psychiatrist Simon Wessely.

None of that amateur crastination for me! No sirreebob.

I’m on a book deadline (for The Everything Pressure Cooker Cookbook), so what do I do?

I let my online writing buddy Lurquer convince me that I really really really need to start participating in social networks, so I joined Twitter.

I chose PHaHa as my Twitter name. (I guess that’s what you call it.)

I picked that name because years ago the catalog people powers that be started sending me catalogs addressed to Pamela Haha, instead of Hahn. (I never thought my name was a joke, but evidently they did.)

So, today I Twitter! Tomorrow I’ll conquer the world! Or work on my book. Whichever comes first.

My Gold Watch Substitute

Years ago I decided that once I sold my first book, I’d reward myself with a gold watch. Life had other ideas. For a number of reasons that I write about elsewhere, my budget realities because of some pesky health issues mean that my dream of that reward hasn’t yet happened.

So now that it’s official that Book #19 is a reality, I had my nephew pick up a gold compromise: the lovely gold box of Esther Price dark chocolate candy that you see pictured here. (I know. It’s a bad nutritional move to reward myself with food. Would you believe that it’s not the candy inside that I like but the lovely gold box?)

By the way, Book #19 — the one that I’m writing now, or am writing when I’m not working on this or another blog or procrastinating by zoning out to the occasional game of solitaire — is The Everything Pressure Cooker Cookbook.

I’ve always believed in the going the extra mile work ethic. And, because of that belief, I continue to dream. And revise my goals. Granted, there are now many other things on my Someday List™ that rank higher than a gold watch, many of which are far more expensive than the watch will be when I get it.

But I will get it. Someday™. Somehow. After all, part of that whole going the extra mile work ethic means I also must have a goal setting philosophy that requires that when I dream, I dream big.

Maybe I can’t jump quite as high (or as hyperactively) as Steve Martin did in The Jerk when the new phone book arrives, but I still get purdy durned excited when a box of my new books arrive.

My copies of The Everything One-Pot Cookbook arrived today.

Of course, that now means that the site and sample recipes for this book should have been built on CookingWithPam.com yesterday. For now that task will have to be another thing for my Someday™ List.

I’d write some more things about the experience, but today is also the 50% deadline for my newest book. (I’ll post an announcement about that one here … soon.)

The New Home for The Blue Rose Bouquet

I am currently in the process of migrating the content of The Blue Rose Bouquet online magazine from BlueRoses.com to its new home on BlueRoseBouquet.com. Now that the archives for the Writing Woes comic strip have been moved, I’m starting with the oldest short stories, humor, essays, and articles in The Blue Rose Bouquet archives and working my way forward.

During this transition, the Home page for The Blue Rose Bouquet will remain on BlueRoses.com. Any page that has been migrated to BlueRoseBouquet.com automatically (and conveniently) will update to its new location; however, you will need to use the back button to navigate to the links for some of the existing pages.

In the meantime, I continue to dream of that Someday™ when I’ll have a staff to help me with all of my housekeeping chores.
